Choirs

SCCS serves as an umbrella organization for three ongoing choirs, and for a festive holiday ensemble,
as well as sponsoring choral collaborations with the Santa Rosa Symphony and periodic international concert tours.

SSU Chamber SingersThe Sonoma State University Chamber Singers (Music 323) is an ensemble of 20-25 singers dedicated to the performance of Medieval, Renaissance, early Baroque and contemporary music.
Sonoma County Bach Choir

The Sonoma County Bach Choir (Music 324) is a group of 50-60 singers specializing in the music of the Baroque period, with special emphasis on Johann Sebastian Bach.

In the fall of 2007, we performed the Verdi Requiem with the Santa Rosa Symphony, and in spring 2008, we presented the Bach B Minor Mass, again with the Santa Rosa Symphony.

Our fall 2008 program is a Baroque Christmas celebration featuring the Monteverdi Gloria a 7 Voci, the Charpentier Midnight Mass, and Bach's Cantata 36, Schwingt Freudig Euch Empor. In addition, we'll be joining the Santa Rosa Symphonic Chorale and the Santa Rosa Symphony in December in a performance of Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass. In May 2009, we'll be presenting four Bach cantatas: 140, 147, 187, and 196.

SSU ChorusThe Sonoma State University Chorus is an ensemble of 75-100 singers which performs a broad range of repertoire, including choral-orchestral pieces, a cappella music of all periods, and special thematic projects.
Holiday SingersThe Holiday Singers is a group of varying size which provides festive musical entertainment during the Winter holiday season. Members are drawn from the Sonoma County Bach Choir and the SSU Chamber Singers.
